DiscAccord is an educational tool for musicians, beginners or not. It allows you to instantly discover the main elements of a musical score: scales, degrees, intervals, chords, tonalities. It is particularly adapted to the teaching of music theory and harmony, in schools and conservatories of music. DiscAccord allows these elements to be read just by turning a transparent disk above a printed pattern. Reading is direct, without any computation, without counting tones or semitones. DiscAccord is like a printed cardboard sheet, plasticized, with a movable disk in printed film, also plasticized, above. The device is then robust and resistant to tears, scratches and humidity. The disk rotates around a central rivet, and lets the markings of the cardboard sheet be visible through little windows. By rotating the mobile disk with its peripheral handle, the user chooses a note among the twelve of the chromatic scale. This note will be the tonic of the chosen scale. From this moment, all the data of the scale appear:
In addition, it is possible to find the tonality of a piece according to its key signature: by positioning the mobile disc in such a way that the number of sharps or flats in the key appears in two small round windows, the major tonality of the piece can be directly read. The possible minor tonality can be read as well directly. It then remains to analyze the notes of the piece to choose whether it is in major or in minor. This analysis can not be done by DiscAccord. On the back of the printed board is the DiscAccord manual. The cercle of the fifths is also presented there, for the major and minor tonalities.
See the instructions for use. Note : differences may exist between the photos and the actual device. |
